Overview

The Government Services Integration Cluster (Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement) is seeking an Intermediate Front End Software Developer for a 12-month onsite engagement in Toronto. The successful consultant will work within an Agile delivery team to design, develop, and maintain large-scale web applications using modern front end technologies. This is a hands-on development role requiring strong technical skills and a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate technical systems specifications into working, tested front end applications using React and Next.js
  • Develop detailed programming specifications and write clean, maintainable code aligned with project requirements
  • Build and maintain Jamstack-based web applications with a focus on performance and scalability
  • Ensure all developed interfaces meet AODA accessibility compliance standards
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers using Figma or similar tools to implement pixel-accurate designs
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives using kanban/task boards
  • Leverage cloud platforms such as Azure across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS service models
  • Utilize DevOps practices including pipelines and task boards to support continuous integration and delivery
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arising during development, implementation, and post-deployment phases
  • Prepare clear technical documentation including reports, design reviews, and assessments
  • Conduct design walkthrough sessions with project team members and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with IT professionals throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Must-Have Requirements
  • 2–5 years of experience as an intermediate front end developer
  • Hands-on experience with React, Next.js, and Jamstack architecture
  • Demonstrated experience working on large-scale government or banking applications
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure
  • Working knowledge of Figma or similar UI/UX design tools
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies and Agile delivery teams
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Prior experience working in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) or broader public sector
  • Proficiency across all cloud service models: SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS
  • Knowledge and experience with AODA compliance and related accessibility standards
  • Experience with middleware, gateways, and rapid application development (RAD) methodologies
  • Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, and practices
Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role based at 222 Jarvis St, Toronto, Ontario — 5 days per week in office. The team follows Agile methodologies with kanban/task boards and DevOps pipelines. No security clearance is required for this engagement.
