Software Developer - Full Stack
Overview
The Government Services Integration Cluster (Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement) is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Developer to join their team in Toronto. This is a fully onsite, senior-level engagement where the successful candidate will design and build end-to-end solutions spanning modern front-end frameworks, Python and .NET back-end services, RESTful APIs, and Azure cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise across the full stack and can lead by example in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and continuously expand data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities.
- Translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications, including developing detailed programming specifications and writing or generating code.
- Build and maintain full stack web applications covering front-end UI, back-end services, API layers, and database design.
- Design and construct RESTful API services and integrate front-end UI components with back-end APIs.
- Implement and maintain web architecture designed for speed, scalability, and security.
- Apply web security best practices including OAuth 2.0, JWT authentication, and session management.
- Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems arising during the use and operation of software packages, including support during implementation, conversion, and migrations.
- Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, and UX designers throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Conduct unit tests, debug applications, and produce supporting technical documentation.
- Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and best engineering practices.
Must-Have Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in NextJS and React.js, including NodeJS.
- Strong proficiency in modern Python development with a proven track record designing and building RESTful APIs using FastAPI.
- Proven expertise with .NET Core Services/Web API and C#.
- Advanced knowledge of UI design, responsive design patterns, and testable UI architecture.
- Strong understanding of Web Security, OAuth 2.0, JWT Authentication, and session management.
- Expert knowledge of MS Azure SQL Server, including DB encryption, query tuning, stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions, and query optimization.
- Experience with Cosmos DB, Redis cache, and Azure managed services.
- Familiarity with Azure Key Vault for secure storage management.
- Strong knowledge of application packaging and container-based deployments.
- Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record as a senior development team member, taking ownership of design and delivery and meeting deadlines.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge and experience developing Internet-ready applications and rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
- Experience with middleware, gateways, and product installation scripts including encoding, testing, and debugging.
- High-level knowledge of Angular framework, AngularJS components, and JavaScript front-end interfaces.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
- Experience creating reusable, testable modules and components using AngularJS.
- Proficiency in front-end web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side/client-side rendering.
- Experience with Java web application servers (Tomcat, WebLogic), EJB, and Servlets.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Experience with SOAP web services in addition to REST.
- Experience with Azure DevOps and JIRA.
- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and related regulations.
- Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
- Ability to provide post-implementation support and conduct design walkthrough sessions with project teams.
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite role, five days per week, located at 222 Jarvis Street, Toronto. No security clearance is required. The team operates within an Agile/Scrum framework, with close collaboration across developers, product managers, business analysts, and UX designers. Travel expenses are not provided for this engagement.
