Overview

The Government Services Integration Cluster (Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement) is seeking a Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist for a 15-month onsite engagement in Toronto. The successful consultant will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of large-scale enterprise systems by developing and executing comprehensive test strategies, leading automation efforts, and collaborating closely with development and business teams throughout the full software development life cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on testing strategy, test plans, tool selection, and resource requirements for large-scale enterprise systems
  • Plan and organize testing efforts across GUI and non-GUI environments, including systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test scripts, and test cases across all phases of testing including functional, integration, regression, system, and performance testing
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps, and collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve issues
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Micro Focus OpenText UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, or Postman, and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Conduct performance, stress, and load testing using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner to validate system scalability and reliability under expected traffic and data volumes
  • Perform AODA accessibility testing to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards
  • Develop and manage robust test data strategies, including generating realistic test data, ensuring data privacy, and managing test data environments
  • Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components and databases, including data migration and transformation testing
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to clarify requirements and maintain alignment on quality objectives
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test results, test coverage, and quality metrics, and provide input for user manuals and release notes
Must-Have Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in software testing within enterprise-level IT environments and large-scale systems
  • Hands-on experience with both manual testing and automated testing tools and frameworks
  • Experience creating and maintaining test strategies, test cases, test scripts, and test reports
  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or equivalent
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium or Postman for API testing
  • Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall testing methodologies
  • Extensive experience with AODA testing and compliance
  • Proven expertise in end-to-end testing of complex systems, covering all functional and non-functional requirements
  • Knowledge of QA compliance standards and security testing best practices
  • Strong understanding of databases such as SQL and Oracle
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration tools such as Jenkins, Git, or GitLab
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Knowledge and experience in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash)
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS
  • Experience in the use of information retrieval packages
  • Knowledge and understanding of testing methods in an object-oriented environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices
  • Experience planning and organizing testing efforts for both large and small systems
  • Experience coding automated test scripts to produce sets of automated test cases
  • Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications
Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role based at 222 Jarvis St, Toronto, five days per week. No security clearance is required. The team follows Agile and Scrum practices, and the consultant will be expected to participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate closely with cross-functional project teams throughout the engagement.
